CRESTLINE REUNION UPDATE (letter to be mailed soon)

Dear Classmates,
The Reunion countdown continues! Plans are firming up for a wonderful weekend April 15-16. You don’t want to miss this! A registration form is included which lists the following activities:
Friday night from 6 to 8 there will be a casual gathering at Carolyn Wilson Long’s house, 2880 Balmoral Road , to kick off the weekend.
Saturday morning at 10:30 we can pay a visit to our old alma mater and see how much Crestline has grown. We’ll have a sign and some balloons at the main entrance so we’ll know where to gather.
Lunch, you’ll be happy to know, will not be in the school lunchroom, but at Dee Foster King’s house at 3842 South Cove Drive at noon. Those of you who attended our 35th Reunion will remember her wonderful porch and the delicious lunch.
Saturday night is the gala dinner with our friends from Mountain Brook Elementary School. We’ll gather at the Birmingham Country Club at 6 for cocktails, dinner, music, and memorabilia on display to jog our memories.
Many thanks to those of you who have sent needed addresses, suggestions, and offers of help. M.D. Smith and the committee from Mtn. Brook have been great. Those of us in Crestline’s informal planning group are doing our best to make this a memorable event. Here’s what you can do to help!
1) Check out the web site (www.mtbrook55.com/) You’ll find a link to Crestline information and a list of names and addresses. If you have any to add or correct, please send the information to mdsmith@hiwaay.net and to carolynwlong@aol.com. We also need e-mail addresses.
2) Send in the biographical information sheet that accompanied the last letter. If you don’t have it, you may be able to download it from the web site, or you may ask Carolyn for a copy (205 870-0171). If you don’t care to complete the whole form, just fill in the basics and write what you’d like. You are all important and we would like everyone represented, even if (or maybe especially if) you won’t be at the Reunion.
3) Fill out the enclosed registration form and send a check in the appropriate amount. The registration fee of $10 per class member will help pay for mailing expenses, name tags, etc. There is no charge for the Friday night cocktail party or the Saturday lunch, but we do need to know if you plan to attend. The cost for the Saturday night dinner is $40 per person. (Drink tickets will be available.) Vicky Veenschoten Marty will act as treasurer. Her address is on the registration form.
4)Bring or send Crestline memorabilia (photos, etc) for display at the dinner. Please check the appropriate spot on the registration form if you have items to lend for the occasion.
5) If you are out of town, make your travel plans. The Hampton Inn just outside Mountain Brook Village could only hold six rooms, all smoking, for us. Their rate is $79. Call (205) 870-7822 by April 1 and ask for the Crestline Reunion rate. The Courtyard by Marriott on Lakeshore, across from Brookwood Village, is holding 15 rooms for us until April 1. Their number is (205) 879-0400 and the rate for the Crestline Reunion group is $84 for a king-size bed and $94 for two doubles.
